Typhoon Lagoon Review - Our Disney World Trip Day 7

In the heart of Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park promises visitors a day filled with excitement, relaxation, and adventure. With thrilling water rides and a very large serene lazy river, Typhoon Lagoon is a paradise for water enthusiasts of all ages. This was our first time at Disney World Water Parks, and it was a wonderful water park day. It is a good idea to arrive early to take advantage of shorter wait times and spend the whole day. Be sure to check their hours, when we were on our vacation, Disney's water parks were only open from 10-5. Currently, Disney is alternating each water park to have just one park open at a time. So at the time of our visit, Disney's Blizzard Beach was closed.

Overview of Typhoon Lagoon

As you step into Typhoon Lagoon, you are greeted by a tropical paradise with the theme that a massive storm has swept away the park. The park boasts one of the largest wave pools in North America, where guests can experience the thrill of bobbing up and down on powerful waves. Whether you're looking to catch a wave or simply soak up the sun on the sandy beach, the huge wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is a must-visit attraction. The Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool is a wave pool where my kids spend most of the day. I recommend this wave pool for older kids and strong swimmers, as the waves are massive. My kids have seen their fair share of water parks and wave pools but this one had some serious waves and is huge! My kids are a bit older, so they didn't need me in the wave pool with them, just needed to keep a general eye on them. There are a good amount of beach chairs near the wave pool, which is a great way for adults to get some relaxing time while the kids are having fun.

Thrilling Water Rides

For those seeking an adrenaline rush, Typhoon Lagoon offers a variety of exhilarating water slides and attractions. From the Crush 'n' Gusher water coaster to the Humunga Kowabunga speed slide, there's no shortage of heart-pounding experiences at this water park. Guests can also brave the storm on Miss Adventure Falls, a family raft ride that takes riders on a high-speed journey through cascading waterfalls and eerie caverns. The kids rode most of the water slides twice, as the lines were pretty short.

Family-Friendly Fun

Families with young children will find plenty of options for fun and relaxation at Typhoon Lagoon. Keelhaul Falls and Mayday Falls are perfect for family members of all ages looking for a thrilling yet accessible water slide experience. The Ketchakiddee Creek area offers pint-sized slides, fountains, and waterfalls for the little ones to enjoy, ensuring that the entire family can make the most of their day at the park. The lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon was the longest lazy river I have ever seen. The river goes around the perimeter of the park, making for a long ride without having to go around again. It was fun, with some waterfalls areas. The river generally wasn't too crowded and you were able to actually be lazy in this lazy river.

Relaxation and Dining

If you need a break from the excitement, Typhoon Lagoon also provides ample opportunities for relaxation. Grab a tube and float down Castaway Creek, a peaceful lazy river that winds its way around the park, allowing guests to unwind and take in the tropical surroundings. When hunger strikes, head to one of the park's dining locations to refuel with a variety of quick service restaurants at the park. There are also refillable mugs available, which can be filled at soda machines throughout the park.

Disney's Typhoon Lagoon is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to cool off and have fun in the sun. With its thrilling water rides, family-friendly attractions, and opportunities for relaxation, this water park offers something for everyone. Whether you're seeking heart-pounding excitement or a peaceful retreat, Typhoon Lagoon is a great way to spend a day on your Disney Vacation. While Typhoon Lagoon is one of the Disney parks, it is not as hectic as the other Disney theme parks. At first, I was a bit worried since Genie+ is not offered at the water park, but we did not encounter any long lines.  I originally scheduled only one day at the water park, but my kids had so much fun that they wanted to return. So we ended up spending a full day and a half at Typhoon Lagoon.  While the park doesn’t have much Disney theming, it is a really fun water park with great rides. The kids had a good time and the adults had a relaxing day at this Disney water park.
